Explore the Scenic Cape Peninsula and West Coast with an experience and knowledgeable guide

The Fish River Canyon is one of the most magnificent natural phenomena in Southern Africa and is the oldest canyon in the world. The hiking trail starts from the main viewpoint near Hobas and continues to Ai-Ais Hot Spring Resort. The trail is 86 - 96km long and takes an average of 5 days to complete.

Frik Olwage, founder and owner of Eco Ventures, has guided the Fish River Canyon, more than 50 times. Hiking the ‘Fish’ with Frik is an unbelievable experience. He knows all the easier footpaths on the hike and his stories, around a camp fire, make the history of the canyon even more interesting.

• Desert scenery
• Rock formations
• Solitude and silence
• Sleeping under the stars
• The four finger rock
• Van Throta's grave

Eco Ventures provide you with a full package, including transport by luxury Mercedes Sprinter Bus, overnight accommodation and meals on your way to the Canyon, permits, experienced guides, and an evening meal each night in the canyon.

The Canyon is only open to hikers from May to August, each year. The Fish River Canyon is done with a backpack. You have to carry all your food and clothes for 5 days.
